Course Offerings

The UAB Department of Mathematics expands its range of upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Probability and Statistics:

 

• MA 485/585 Probability (Fall and Spring)
• MA 486/586 Mathematical Statistics (Spring)
• MA 587/687 Advanced Probability (Spring)
• MA 592/692 Advanced Statistics (Summer 2013)

 

These courses are geared towards undergraduate and graduate students. Advanced Probability or Advanced Statistics can be taken by undergraduate students with permission of instructor.

Probability and Statistics

 

Probability Theory and Statistics are increasingly important in many areas of Applied Mathematics, such as in actuarial science and financial modeling, but also in the natural sciences and in technology, where methods are sought to describe the effects of randomness and disorder.

Student Profiles

While these courses are upper level math courses, they were designed to serve students with broad backgrounds. Full time students in mathematics or in other fields may register. Working professionals may further hone their probability and statistics skills by taking these courses.
