Homework (T3) is due Monday. Please turn in problems from sections 4.1, 4.2,
4.3 and 4.4. The problems from section 4.7 will be turned along with the
problems of T4.

I encourage you attend Peter Lax's talk on Nov. 12th (Wednesday) at 3pm in
5420 Boelter Hall on "The Change of Variables Formula for Multiple Integrals".
Also, T3 and C2 are now posted. Please note the due dates on these
assignments.

Midterm exam is on Oct. 31st (next Friday). Review questions for the upcoming
midterm is now posted under "Other Handouts".
For section 8.3 problem 1, construct the Lagrange interpolating polynomial,
P_2(x), using the nodes of the monic Chebychev polynomials of deg 3.
Eric will have extra office hours on Friday (10/24) 10-11am and 1-2pm, Monday
(10/27) 11am-12pm and 1-2pm.

Note that you have to explicitly calculate f '(x) in your code for given f(x)
in the computational hw.

I will be speaking at the Applied Math Colloquium on Tuesday (Oct 7) at 4:00pm
in MS 6229 on some numerical methods involving Taylor polynomials. Come by if
you can.
For section 2.3, use the stopping criteria |p_n -p_n-1| < 10^(-N) or |p_n - p_n-1|
/|p_n| < 10^(-N) to approximate the solution within 10^(-N).

CORRECTION on theoretical homework 1
In section 2.3, instead of
6(b,f) do 6(b) only and in section 2.3, 1 is changed to 1a and 2 is replaced
by 2a. The corrected version is already posted.

Oct. 2nd). Your TA, Eric Chung, will do a Matlab tutorial.
