My primary teaching duties involve two concept-based Astronomy courses and managing their associated laboratory courses.
AST 101 - Astronomy of the Universe is an introduction to the concepts in modern cosmology from Aristotle to the present day. We focus on the book A Brief History of Time, by Stephen Hawking. The associated laboratory course for this lecture is AST 111.AST 102 - Astronomy of Stellar Systems is an introduction to the concepts associated with the observations of Stars and Galaxies. The associated laboratory course is AST 112.
Current students of these courses at UAB can access course information by logging in to the UAB Blackboard Vista web site or by visiting the "Courses & Training" tab of BlazerNet.
Both of these courses use the on-line textbook: Discovering the Universe, 8e.
