In the install process, about halfway down it will ask for your licensing status. Don't take the default. Click on network install and on the next screen it will ask for a server. The server name is '''cas-matlab.cas.uab.edu'''.

and get the latest download. Follow the usual directions for downloading and installing
The last step of installation runs the ''WinEdt Configuration Wizard''. Answer OK.
Then go to miktex,
find the latest release of Miktex, and install it.

Winedt is on the travel disc, but probably not a recent edition.
The userid and license keys should be obtained from the person you get the CD's from.

With WinEdt installed and open, go to the Help and enter the license keys, available from the person you get the CD's from.

UAB has a site license for Matlab, so there are no CD's or DVD's to carry around.
Go to the UAB IT web site and navigate to the software library. Select Matlab. It will ask for Blazer ID and Password. This will generate an email with instructions for installing Matlab from there.
The process asks for a file installation key, which is in the text of the file key file, and later for a license file (which simply tells it to go to Euler).
To run or install Matlab you must be network connected and have access to Euler from that network. This is to access the license server running on Euler.
MS Office
The current MS Office version is 2007 Enterprise. Installation takes about an
hour and requires a reboot.
Load Office from the UAB IT site.
